Some of you might remember me asking about how to do organic strands a while ago. This is the initial result.
Render time 6hrs using podium and sds -
no way! that was using podium?!?!?! thats really good! plus the model itself is great, but the render is really good.

wow thanks igor, yeh it's podium alright but with a touch of photoshop at the end (just a bit of diffuse glow and messing with saturation). I have to say podium is really powerful when you use the noisy settings, I much prefer noisy over default. The geomerty wasn't too complicated either so about 20 mins would have been acceptable, I just let it cook cause I was away - it made 7000 passes! I'm still letting it bake to 10000 as we speak (just to see what happens)

What was the technique for making the organic strands? Did you use Dale's subdivide and smooth tools?

I also used the vector push/pull which made it so much easier to get the strands at angles

Really nice, like the strands
Only crit isto raise th middle chair of the ground a little bit, and perhaps lower the one right a little bit. T the moment it looks like the middle one is part of the ground and the right one is floating above the grouns. -
