If you could design a computer just for SU what would you go for? Nothing is out of bounds for this fictional machine, you can have anything.

personally id go for a tablet type PC with a quad core and loads of RAM, itd also have lots of buttons down one side to act as shortcut/modifier keys.

So what would you go for? go wild.

Think Minority Report meets The Matrix meets that Microsoft interface that looks like a flat touch screen used for coffee table meets my trusty old A0 drawing board. Yeah, that would float my boat!

The Matrix because once you have control, you can make anything [happen], in this instance both the machine and the program will have to be REALLY advanced.

Hmm ... let's see. The "Minority Report" glove thing's cool. I'd like to see that combined with a virtual 3D space you can actually enter. A computer that does that.

Ah, I can totally picture it. Standing on one gigantic box and pushpulling dozens of others up. Chin proudly in the air, Wagner in the background. πŸ˜’

I tihnk im going to have to scrap my touchscreen thing andgo with the crowd and take theminority report style option. I can just imagine having a virtual lump ofclay and moulding it in to shape, altohugh SU would probably spaz out over the number of polys πŸ˜„

I realyl cant think of anything to add on to that...

please tell me you have all seen iron man?
the design that tony stark has on that is AMAZING, check it out, while watching it, i found myself saying..."i wish sketchup could to that"

btw i just got myself a new computer:

                  Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (4 x 2.66 GHZ)
                  8gb RAM
                  2x 750gb HDD
                  NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

and the best bit...a triple screen array (all 19")

Just won the 'Who is Least Competitive Championships' where trying to win will make you lose. Trying to lose makes you win which makes you lose. Not trying at all makes you lose which makes you win which makes you lose.

Oh yeah, the rig in Ironman would be the ultimate modeling machine.

And off topic, that movie was the best superhero movie made to date.

An ironman style display would be pretty cool, but (although my memory is sketchy) it does a lot of stuff thats basically the same as the minority report machine, except its a lot more voice controlled.

Oooh, ive got a cunning plan, just get rid of the physical computer altogether and just implant a chip in you head that feeds visual input straight to your brain πŸ˜„ youd then also be able to plug it in to the bit of your brain that knows where your limbs are, and use that as a form of input.

probably a way to go before theres something like that around πŸ˜›

off topic: ironman is a pretty cool film, although id class it under 'good crap', i.e. its good as a film but doesnt make me re-think my outlook on life.

And your machine sounds very nice pav, what are you going to do with all that screen space? youll end up just openeing windows to fill the space πŸŽ‰

                        one screen for modelling,
                        one screen for rendering
                        and one for pornography/reasearch.

I do not think it's intention is to make one rethink one's outlook in life, I believe it's just meant as entertainment... nothing more.

Im also pretty certain that it was just meant to entertain, but thats why it goes in the good crap category for me. If i am going to class a film as an all time great its got to translate in to real life somehow.
