Transparent edges?
-
just this year i decided to model the downtown city that i live in but i am stuck on this problem- when i upload the model to google earth the edges of the nontransparent pixels are showing a void behind them, other planes and models are not seen though these and it is an eyesore. i just upgraded to 4.3 and they seemed to be acting funnier. i will be happy to figure out how to have clean edges from transparent to nontransparent pixels in google earth.
this is my first post, i am new here and still fairly new to sketchup. i love the idea of building this city im in so any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks -
Hi danstan,
Could you share an example with this issue?
Also, I have read glitches with the new GE displaying images so we could "collect" these examples.
For the same reason, I'm moving this topic to the SketchUp Bugs subforum now.

here is an example, this is the famous peabody hotel in downtown memphis with a sign that can be seen throughout downtown. it has so many transparent holes with a "halo" around them it makes it very ugly, i've almost halted progress on anything else until i can figure out if this can be fixed or maybe its even something with my computer.... i looked on another computer without 4.3 it looks fine. thank you so much for your time

Ah, Memphis... I have a very goog friend there...
Anyway, I opened your model in SU and there's no problem with it there. True, I see a little, white halo around some images with alpha transparency in GE. Maybe the halo originally was not white (thus not visible) just GE interprets all backgrount colours white? Hm... Certainly peculiar.
Could you adjust it in an image editor to be with less of that halo? Like editing the alpha mask or something.

i dont know. it seems i've tried everything but i will keep trying, maybe its my browser or graphics card or something. i will keep modeling and just hope eventually they will go away and i dont have to redo all my models.
thanks
