Waterproof, recyclable concrete – just add Hycrete
-
Hi Guys,
Part of the project that I'm investigating
involves a semi-basement car-park / store area.
I'm familiar with the costs involved in damp
proofing and thought I'd see what is on the
market.I found this company, http://www.hycrete.com/
They have invented an additive for concrete
which appears to lower the cost of water proofing
also they suggest that Hycrete(d) concrete can
now be re-cycled more easily and fall into the
“Cradle-to-Cradle” category .... interesting!I like the idea of 'I'm popping out to mow the
roof lawn!' ..... again maybe not!Mike

Thanks for this. Our house is victorian and has no concrete floor slabs, when you lift a floor board you see an air gap below he joists and then earth. It has never posed a problem but ideally I want to lay a damp proof membrane and lay a concrete slab over the top. I was dreading the thought of ripping up all the floors though, so I've been looking for a self levelling concrete product with chemical damp protection. That way I won't have to lift all the floor boards. I'm not sure if Hypercrete is self levelling but it is a step in the right direction.
