Not only did I build the object but I built the total surrounding environment, in this case a photo studio. Photographers joke about wanting skyhooks instead of light stands with feet that spread all over the place and trip you as you set up the shot. Now I have skyhooks and cordless lights and all the power I could ever use.

It looks really great, Roger!
And you did all this using SU and Kerkythea??BTW - did you find out how to install the material libraries..??
Cheers

Kim I used SU, Kerkythea, and I breathed on it with Photoshop. The secret was building a SU photo studio to to shoot it in.

oooo... care to share the skippy?! pretty please?!
Have you tested some of Patricks metals? I like "Reflective Aluminum 2" or something like that... good brushed alum. mat.

Sorry the skippy is over 5MB.

Hi Roger, thanks for your response!
Not to be a pain, but ... Did you try saving-as, then deleting the mechanical object, then go to Model>Statistics>PurgeUnused ? Save as "RogersLovelyPhotographyStudio.skp" From what I can see in the image, this model should be EASILY under 1Mb, then zipped it should be much smaller... so I am surprised at the 5mb... but if it is, please share it as suggested by my friend Mr. Lay above. Thanks.
Here's my clumsy attempt to recreate your studio... it includes my model for d/l

Not a problem Fletch. I am kind of new at this and forgot about purging. I would do it tonight but I am kind of sleepless and it is 2AM. I have a couple projects that clients are waiting for and over thanksgiving I found out I am to be a "a seanathair mo chroi."
That is Gaelic for "beloved grandfather."
So I am behind on everything.
Anyhow what you say makes sense. I need to study the mechanics of the different lights and rendering methods because my final render (at the largest size allowed in Kerky) took five solid days of computer time. I still have a few tweaks to do in PS.
-
congrats on the grandfather thing! my fourth child is due in less than a month.
Here's a very nice render of a drumset, didn't know if you saw it, with your photostudio setup, but using the model (I gave the link to in my previous post)

Hello Roger,
Does scaling your studio to the model have a effect on the rendering out come or is it relative? I.e if my model does not fit in your scene, can I rescale your setup proportionally to fit the model?
-
Scaling should have no effect.
The main thing is to have the light source very large and close to the subject so highlights wrap around the subject rather than reflecting has hard little points of light.
Also it helps create shadows with soft gentle edges.
If I can help with anything let me know.

Thanks Roger, we appreciate this very much.
