3ds Max finish for SU model
-
Thanks, Cheffey,
People, entourage, background, houses etc. will all be added (now just turned off for a quick material and lighting render).
Also animations etc. This September 640 years ago was the first univerity in my home town (actually in the whole country) founded and it will be e virtual tour back to those times - with special emphasis on the buildings (monasteries, cathedral etc) where it may have been working.
It will be part of an exhibition (and as I believ a whole website) with these models as "visualization" of the era...
There are some more pics at http://www.gaieus.hu/GothicPecs/ (with the WIP 3DS Max renderings at the very bottom). -
we mods have been aways from the gallery for too long... we need to post more of our work...
look at what we miss out on, Gaieus, really quite nice. I love having someone around doing this archaeology type modeling...
-
That is some building Gaieus. There must have been some real up with it architects 'way back then. Is any of it still standing and could you tell us how tall the original was? Great render too, the wet and dry gravel looks very real.
Cheers, Bill -
Thanks Eric, and Kriss - after all this is how the "palette is full" isn't it?
Here is a pic of the cathedral as it is now - "rebuilt" into its "original", 12-13th century form (of course this is what romanticism was just all about...)
You can still see the original town walls and such (little too much entourage though - well this was not made in SU for sure )And Bill, too... (cross-posting )
Actually the height was also changed during the reconstruction between 1880 and 1891 but at least it was all recorded already...
Also, the credits for the render is not mine - I'm just "learning" 3DS Max now (and cannot afford it so only play with it when at the dudes place we are working together now). -
And a little animation test (very much compressed for downoading time) where some of the "rest" of the town can also be seen:

i wish i could post some of my stuff but the client dont like there stuff posted so i cant post it -
Mike we all know the real reason. You don't want to put us all to shame.
Gai, that is so cool. It is like the beginning of a computer game save the textures etc...
-
Thanks Mike - shame we cannot all see them!
Eric - believe me, that's also some plan for the future - virtual travel in time, interactively etc. We just need to find the ways (and put some exciting stuff except for monsters to shoot )
-
thanks gai

Honestly, when I saw that animation I thought of this book by Michael Crichton which was eventually made into this movie.
Like most, the book was better than the movie but the movie was still decent. If you get the chance get the book. -
Mike... I have an e-mail address...
of you could post and delete... we would understand... but I know how the client thing goes...
and on your note about Rogers...
I have a prject going out at Champions or the Pinnacle, whatever you like calling it... it's the PLP Corporate home... 6500sf of party house...
I need to come down and take some photos...
-
Gaieus,
sorry I can't talk to you now, I'm in medieval ages in your movie...
you'll need to send a royal messenger if you want to talk...
I would love to see more... I really dig the old architecture.
-
Well, two more animation tests then...

Some more "in the finish" (entourage and "life" still to be added). Some fog (and global light) was also added to avoid too sharp contours and shades.
Ah yeah, and the buildings are modelled from inside, too. Ribbed Gothic vaults and such...

Nice

Some more contributive comments, Eric?
A WIP is usually seeking helpful critiques! -
Well seeing as how I have not even attempted any photorealistic renderings I don't have much of a basis for critique. I will say however, you might want to water your grass
-
Well, this is supposed to be late summer early autumn (fall) so the yellowish grass is OK.
However those blossoming trees kind of seem to be weird at the same time (of the year) so - see - there is already a contributive comment that brings thoughts into my mind!
Thanks, buddy!

Gai, These are all just lovely!!! I've always wanted to go to Hungary... now I'm hungry for Hungary can't wait to see the finished website. Thanks for showing.

Tinanne,
Unfortunately most of these buildings are gone by now (though we have other ones - and most of the town walls are still intact). Yet the city is still nice, check this sightseeing tour out!
