Vienna Wood

Another interesting piece that I saw on the 1stdibs.com web site. In this instance, it's a fairly simple white-painted armchair attributed to the Wiener Werkstatte and made in 1903. The Werkstatte was an influential design school, based in Vienna. It's central to the aesthetic movement known as Vienna Secession. I believe it's an important tributary in the Arts & Crafts movement from the early part of the 20th Century. Josef Hoffmann, an influential designer associated with the Wiener Werkstatte, created several chairs that resemble this pair.
