      Hi guys,

I am brand new to this whole cad thing. I have downloaded the free version of sketchup and have been using it for the past day or so.

I am currently building a wood splitter and have most of it built. I have downloaded sketchy physics to try and get my components to move together to check clearances and functions. I have downloaded it and installed it (i think) but the tool bar is not showing up on the screen. Do you need to have the paid version in order for physics to work? is there another way to make the components function together?

also, i was wondering if there is anyway to import components into sketchup to display on my model? ie engine, valves, cylinders.

      Thanks

        Hello,

SketchyPhysics will work the same on paid and on the non-paid version of SketchUp. Which SketchyPhysics version did you download? If you downloaded from Google Code, version 3.2, I suggest you to uninstall it/delete it and download unofficial release 3.5.5. Here is the link: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=61%26amp;t=58936 You will find installation instruction in that same post.

To import components you can use File > 3D Warehouse, Window > Components, or copy from another SketchUp application. You can also use File > Import... option to import various models from cad and other sources.

Correct me if I'm wrong Anton, but I think SketchyPhysics doesn't work yet with SU2015, which is what he has according to his profile.

It will work in SU2015 32bit, but not in 64bit.

That's good to know. Any plans on 64bit?

64bit requires a 64bit NewtonServer.dll, which I don't have the source to. If CPhillips is willing to share the source, I could compile a 64bit dll for it.

Oh well, see how you go. It would be nice to have as it's a bit annoying moving back to 2014 to use it. I don't think it's possible to run 2015 32bit and 64bit side by side.
But as I only using it intermittently it's no big deal.

                    Hi guys,

Thanks for the help. I am still having troubles getting sketchy physics to work. I did get it installed but it comes up with a bunch of load errors. Is there any way to check and see if i have the 64 bit?

                    Thanks

Open ruby console, and write this command:
                      Sketchup.is_64bit? It should return true/false.

If it's 64bit, then I suggest you to install another SU, version 2014, and have SP there. Uninstalling 2015 is not required, as 2014 and 2015 may work alongside. You can draw your model in 2015, save it in 2014 format, and then test model with SketchyPhysics in 2014.

                        Hello

Do i understand sketchyPhysics will NOT work on a mac with SU 2015 due to the 32bit issue?

(SU 2015 will not load the SketchyPhysics libraries on my mac)

Will there be a version of sketchyPhysics that work with SU 2015 on a mac?

                        thanks
                        tom
