Laptop Low Cost

Hi Folks!
I need a low cost laptop. I'd probably never do any heavy modeling on it, and I never do rendering. I'd just like to be able to view my models while at the job site or in my shop.
I'm still using XP on my shaky 10 year old desktop if that matters.

I had a quick look around for something that would meet your requirements price wise. The general consensus is that you would need to fork out in the region of $700 / 800 for anything with a decent CPU and nVidea GC.

Not sure which office supply stores you have out in CA, but just look for laptop deals like this:

I haven't spent over $500 on a laptop in years. I don't see any reason to buy anything higher spec.

The HP is a nice laptop but I would have concerns about,
15.6-inch diagonal HD BrightView WLED-backlit display (1366x768) and Intel
HD graphics 4400.I think for the extra couple of hundred it might be worth going for the Lenovo spec with i7, 2Gb nV and an SSD, remember Joe drives his laptops for 10 years
Even the fastest available laptop today will look very slow in ten years time.Mike

Unfortunately, not many PC laptops will last ten years, no matter the spec. It's just hit or miss. When a motherboard or processor dies, there's not usually any fixing it like you can a desktop. They just seem to wear out one way or another.
