Form Homes up and live!

Curious about the walls on the physical models that stick up above the black roof material (or just flush?). Does this represent a sort of parapet and what is the purpose, other than looking interesting? I don't see it in the renderings.
Did you glue-up the models for the exhibit (instead of hair clips)?
Oh, and I assume the roofing will be light colored in the end--"cool roofs" etc.
Mate they are indeed parapets. They are on the render on the front side of the flyer I later posted. This home isn't in our range yet, it's a bit of a special to which we are still in the process of nailing all the details.
They are there for reason besides aiming to be a feature, we are constructing with a panel system and in this case the whole home is designed around standard panel heights so there are limited cut panels and minimal waste.
And yes the roofing will be white, Western Australia has a fairly warm climate, bloody hot in fact!
In the end I pinned the models together. Came out fairly cool.

wow.. I love it all! great job Richard.
Thanks mate, pretty happy with the overall result. Now I've just got to plan to get over to the other side of the country, meet these clients and share a beer! And check out for myself the state I'm designing homes for!

Looks great!

Compliments on all the works! I like the styling. Clean and professional.

Perth? I'd love to check that out too, Richard. Next time I'm in the area. Did the Sydney-Townsville-Darwin run years (+ years) ago.

Great stuff, Richard. Love the design. Reminds me of Neutra, Breuer, Ellwood et al. The exterior renders, while beautiful, look a little too gloomy for me, though. There's a certain nuclear test site feel to them.

It's always funny I think how people visiting a country generally see more of it than those that live there! You've probably seen more of Australia than most!

That's the one mate! I've eyed it off a few times but it's SO DARN BIG, big books to me are like guys with guns, obviously failing somewhere!

Hmm, I must disagree. Although big books can be a little unpractical, they look so, well, generous and inviting. De gustibus, eh? Enjoy the weekend!
