      Hello,
I am about to buy (if I can convince myself that I can find simple enough software) a 5 axis router/lathe. If I can get software I understand and can learn reasonably easily. I do use the free SU and am fairly adept at using corel draw.

I have appended a pic hereto and was wondering what it would take to do similar designs for such a machine.
      Thank you

I think the basic turnings are easy to model with SketchUp's Follow Me Tool. The helical portion of the turning can be generated with the help of a plug-in. But the carving would be difficult, if not impossible, to model.
