Internal Tagging Technique for 3D-Printed Objects
-
Hi All,
Today I came across an article by Carnegie Mellon, Carnegie Mellon, Microsoft Researchers Demonstrate Internal Tagging Technique for 3D-Printed Objects You can read it here, http://www.cmu.edu/news/stories/archives/2013/july/july22_internaltagging.html
From what I can gather the process will allow ID'ing individual 3D prints. This is something that I have not thought about until now. It makes a lot of sense that some system would allow 3D Printers making small runs of items for sale or otherwise would be able to ID each item.

Something like that was mentioned on Gizmag in the last couple of days. Probably the same source.

a good way to ensure pirates don't 3d scan your item and make more... well at least a way to know if they are fake.

Yes indeed. Also I imagine it could be used for many business procedures, returns etc etc.
