Changing colors in Photoshop?

..wasn't sure how to title this. Anyway, I've got to do a number of product shots of a number of beds and they come in various colors. I was planning on rendering them once and using a mask to adjust the hue of the bed only.
Any advice with this? Is there a specific color that I should start with to get the best results? Any thoughts on what I should do about the color of the reflection? Just tackle the reflection in photoshop?

I did a similar project for children's furniture that came in different finishes and colors, the total project was 7 different scenes/models with 5 variations in color for each which is to be used online (customer clicks on the color and that image shows). I ended up using the 'repaint'feature in Thea render, so I only had to do one render for each model and I could change the colors and even the materials afterwards using Colimo, even the one piece that was a clear perspex and 4 colored variations worked well.
Worth looking at if it's a big enough project as it works fantastically.

That was the first thing I thought of, Pete. I just hadn't heard of anyone using it. I'll check it out and see if I can justify the cost.

There is a color replacement brush under your brush tool menu in Photoshop. I used it once to change the color of paint a few times on a picture of an old truck a friend was rebuilding, to give him an idea.
It was a while back, and I can't recall exactly how it worked, but it didn't take long to master.

If you don't end up going for colimo, I think you're on the right track with just rendering it as a mostly neutral color and then replace it in Photoshop. You'll want to render a material_id later along with the rest of the model. What renderer are you using or have available? In Thea there is an option to make a material layer. Then is very simple to bring that layer into photoshop to use to help quickly mask just that specific material. Then you just tweak the color as needed. Typically works well for what I need it for.
