That is very nice, let's keep that
-
Cool. So we could make the front separable in case of emergencies. I don't want to add big engines on it.
-
Excellent idea, a lifeboat like onboard the USCSS PROMETHEUS and ENTERPRISE, clever, aslong as its not noticeable, it should be completely flushed with the ship and only becomes noticeable when it separates, like the enterprise, the USCSS PROMETHEUS lifeboat was consealed inside the ship if I remember correctly, great idea Marian

Interesting, I need to view the model to criticise, I had a different idea myself, once I finish work today I'll post up what I had bouncing around in my mind, but from the image it looks great
-
I may have to discard the big body or think of another way to attach it. It's not very elegant at the moment. I'm curious to see what you come up with.
-
I think you might not like this idea I have,
But I will model it later for you to criticise, I'm going to try and beef it up a little but keeping the design of the cockpit/lifeboat the same with 1 alteration to its underside, in my mind it works but sure we will see later -
Dont you just hate it when you model something and it crashes 2 hrs later and then you remember you didnt save it,
I had something really nice modelled for this and now its gone
-
That very seldom happens to me.
I leave the autosave to 5 minutes so even if I don't save and SU crashes I still have an up to date backup most of the times. If you've left the default setting it should ask you upon restarting SU if you want to open that autosave. If it doesn't it might still be somewhere in the My Documents folder. -
It normally does autosave, just spent an hr looking for it but no trace
-
@Marian, bare with me, im redoing it and its a bigger improvement on what i had lost, ill have it ready tomorrow,
-
Ok heres what iv being working on, its just early stage progress, its just a quick animation of a seperation concept, added to a bulk of a model underneat the lifeboat but i sense Marion may not like this
But if we do go with this concept it would have a more machanical look, cant wait to hear what you think
LOWERPOLY_STARSHIP_CONCEPT_SEPERATION.tweens.skpI did this animation with the Keyframe_animation plugin, not sure if you need it to view it, if you dont have it and can view it could someone let me know, cheers

My first thought...

I do have the plugins, but once you have the tweens anybody can view it.
I like the idea and the animation, but I'll have to redo the pod so that it fits and looks good subdivided.
Good job -
So is this idea approved then?
I wouldn't redo the design just yet, remember If we go with this I still need to do more work on it. -
Yeah but adapt it to this version. We could have the pod attached to the front and the front with the pod attached to the rest. So front could detach with the pod on and without.
Also don't do too much detailing on the mesh that has to be subdivided. It has to be done with SDS in mind to look good and it would create more work for me to redo things. The clamps will probably have to change a bit because the way they are will not fit well with the smoothed mesh of the ship.

Can't view the model until later on, what is is? Is it a shorter version of mine?
-
It's not a very different version, but the pod doesn't matchup exactly. I would have matched it myself but you said you wanted to do more work on it.
