Slide bearing not working as expected

i have modelled a ladder and i want to simulate it sliding between two beams, position 0 should be pushed back all against the wall, position 1 should be pulled out completely
the principle idea of having a piston + servo i got to work
but when i move the stairs between the beams, then nothing works anymore, i guess it somehow gets blocked by friction or collision
could any of you experts give me a hint please?
