Kantaris, a free, multilingual, open-source media player for Windows, that claims it can play just about anything...and so far, I haven't found anything it can't. I've tested it with avi divx flv mov mp3 mp4 and wmv.

This is a great find. Lots of versatility according to the site. They made a point of mentioning that it readily plays .rar archives. -
