Osama bin Laden's hideout in Abbottabad Pakistan
-
Of course we are right to take every news report with a pinch of salt. However it has been reported that it was the intent to take him alive if that was at all possible...but he had previously stated that he wouldn't be taken alive; and that seems to be the case...brandishing a weapon, hiding behind a woman. Special forces are human too. If I'd been one of them, I'd have had no intention of becoming another of his victims, just so he could be given a fair trial.
It does seem quite extraordinary that he was tracked down to a compound only half a mile from the Pakistani equivalent of Sandhurst or West Point...with all the military comings and goings that that implies. Somebody had to know he was there...or maybe a case of hiding in plain sight?
Actually, it seems like the intelligence services have know for at least 6 months. They just delayed things until they were absolutely certain it was OBL, not one of his commanders. -

we (me included) assume Bin Laden was 9/11's culprit.
Please leave me out...
To me it's a fact that he was the leader of Al Qaida and even claimed himself to be the 9/11 culprit...
I don't need any further evidence...@unknownuser said:
Given none of us are high-ranking CIA officers, our opinions may very well be just that, opinions. It's never a bad thing to question one's own assertion of things. Mental hygiene, eh?
Point noted...

He should've been hauled into court. As civilized people, we should adhere to civilized modi operandi. For our own sakes.
Oohhh... As far as I know they did try to capture him, but he was "lost in action"...

I have a feeling how this thread can evolve...
None of the "usual" conspiracy theorists have chimed in - yet...
I'm sure this thread will evolve into something nasty... -
stinkie That should be fair.
This picture of Hitler and Osama...what do you mean?...
Hitler was named as a leader of one of the greatest power on the Earth...so he could do what he have done because the German people was not asking themselves is it right?...he gave them jobs.Osama is nothing like this...

Not to get too off-topic, but...
Sorry, but your understanding of Lincoln's commitment to the Constitution is a bit skewed. Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus and arrested 1000's without a warrant during the war. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the Lincoln was able to prevent the United States to be split in two. I'm not happy that he had to do it unconstitutionally.

We are all schizoid from time to time. No different from some of the procedures that give Homeland Security its powers. To his credit, he passed the 14th amendment two years after the war started.
The similarities between Hitler, and Osama, were drawn by Time. A pair of charismatic leaders that influenced a large number of people to inhuman acts, genocide of a race, and the use of children as bombs.
-
He was a charismatic leader that gave people a (false) meaning to their lives by leading them along a perverted path to 'betterment' by blaming other religions and ideologies for all their ills. He claimed that their culture was being polluted and their political institutions subverted and undermined by foreigners who were both morally inferior and bent upon control of that society.
He never got his hands dirty himself in all of this, although he had performed a minor role in an earlier conflict. He was quite prepared to send large numbers of his own supporters to almost certain death in order to achieve his ambition...one of domination and the removal of all those who didn't share his world view.
He was religiously and ideologically intolerant to the point of having no qualms about mass-murdering people who did not share that world view; and believed himself to be morally and intellectually superior to his enemies...whom he regarded as being soft and decadent, or racially inferior.Bin Laden or Hitler?
-
This just in: according to the White House, Bin Laden was unarmed.

He uses planes remember...how far was he from an airport?

lol. The White House did say he defended himself in "another fashion" (translating this from Dutch).

Sounds like it could be either one, but as far as I know race has never been a factor for Bin Laden - his war is between Muslims (of any race) and non-Muslims. They were both heinous individuals, though, in my opinion.

Mmmmm .... so I now hear on the news that the Navy Seal on finding OBL was attacked by OBL's wife. It doesn't say if she was armed. Anyway she was shot in the leg for her trouble! As for OBL, the US authorities are now saying that he was UNARMED and he was shot dead by the Navy Seal. And to make this worse, it seems that the Navy Seal had a video camera strapped to his helmet relaying the action back to Obama! This sounds like something one might see in a second rate action movie!
I find this all very confusing and quite ill thought out.... or maybe not! It now looks like the US were positive that OBL was in this compound! Why otherwise would the video action (if this is to be believed) be relayed back to Obama? If this was the case why did they not lay sleigh to the compound and try to get OBL out alive so the World and the relatives of his 911 victims could see him put on trial and when found guilty (as I believe he would be) sentenced to 100 years for each of his victims. I don't believe in capital punishment.
Now we are told he is at the bottom of the deep blue sea ..... somewhere! It also seems that this so called burial was carried out so quickly that there probably was no time to do DNA testing! Also I believe the compound wasn't exactly a seaside resort, so the sea looks to have been be at least 6 or 700Km distance away!
Don't be surprised if we see Mr Bin Laden talking to us again in a grainy video telling us that he is alive a well and planning further crimes against humanity in the name of his Islam believes!
The result of these actions seems to be a huge rise on OB's popularity! There are still many unanswered questions about 911 and now there will be many unanswered questions about what, where, when, how and if OBL is really dead OR maybe ever existed in the first place!
I'm on the fence

Big mistake leaving his personal details on his Playstation.

Good one Alan.
Didn't OLB, and Al Qaeda declared war on, and attack the non-Muslim (including America) world? How does any country fight a globally positioned enemy that has no country? The basic principle of self-defence finds defense by similar action acceptable. One side attacks by killing, and the other side defends by equal force. In conditions of war, there is little time for "due process". Ultimately, the future will judge. By then we will all be dust.
Btw, hiding in plain view works. When my messy drafting studio was robbed. Every locked cabinet was broken into. However my check book on the open shelf, a gold watch, and jewelry in a small paper bag out in plain view were overlooked.

Mmmmmm, now I will know better to check out your shelves also the next time

The news agencies disappoint me. They say photos from the compound are unavailable, but I have already seen one of Osama.

So have I and the below seem to be the best (best = looks most true) of them so far...
Although it's not official and can be a fake image, it can also be leaked by the administration to see the reaction and based on this take a decision about releasing other images...

I have just read a very interesting idea on another forum:
@unknownuser said:
I just had an amazing thought, one that might even explain all the incongruities and story-changing.
What if they took him alive and all this is for show?
I can think of a number of motivations to take him alive, yet claim he was killed. All of them risk backlash down the road, but our government never stops to worry about stuff like that.
Remember how much terrorist intel Osama has in his head. Remember that he has billions of dollars in world banks; that alone lends itself to billions of reasons to lie. Add to that scenario the number of hostages that would be taken worl-wide to secure his release if it were believed that he was still alive.
Remember also that one chopper was said to have taken off in minutes after the battle began by the witnesses in later stories, yet there were no casualties to evacuate.
Also by admission the Seals stayed for the remainder of 40 minutes gathering intel evidence; the early lift-off cannot be explained.
I think we may have just become the first internet site to reveal the true story; only time will tell. I'll record the time of this post for future reference. (well, I posted it at my site too, but wanted to share)
What do you think?
Well, anything is plausible nowadays...
