UI Inspector
-
Hello, Does anyone else have this problem or am I doin something daft?
When I open the UI Inspector to set options for joints quite often nothing shows up in the UI. This can be solved mostly by opening and closing the skp file a few times but dosent always work, sometimes the skp file has to be scrapped.
Not a big problem atm as I am only messing about with physics atm, but if I have a larger model the needs to be deleted will be a different story lol.
Hopefully Its something I am doing wrong.

I am unable to duplicate your problem. Maybe if you do the following it will give others here more information on how to solve your problem:
Create a new file.
In the Window drop down menu click on "Ruby Console".
Again in the Window menu tick "Model Info", "Entity Info" and "Layers".
In the "Model Info" menu select "Statistics" on the left.Create:
A solid floor.
A box on the floor.
A slider joint on top of the box.Pretty much what you had before minus the sphere.
The slider joint should still be selected and highlighted.
Click on the "UI" inspector.
Arrange the windows so all the text in the windows can be read, take a screen-shot and post it.Might help to take a screen-shot of the contents of your GoogleSketchup8/Plugins folder and post that too.

the web dialog is probably getting dirty (to check open the ruby console). that happens when you change a setting in the UI and straightaway exit the UI. if you click the title bar after making a change that shouldn't happen.

I am having the same problem. Using SketchUp 8 and SketchyPhysics 3.1
Dunno about RubyConsole and what it's supposed to tell me.I also cannot make changes to the joint parameters, and I do not have control sliders when I run a simulation.

OK. The problem is specific to my computer, and not to SketchyPhysics 3. It occurs when I do a fresh install of SketchUp, and occurs when I install SketchUp 7 and SketchyPhysics2b, which used to work properly in a previous incarnation of this machine. SketchUp8 with SketchyPhysics3.1 works as expected on a different computer, so that's not the problem.

are you running ie6?

I have IE8, OS is WinXP Pro SP3. Using Sandboxie to isolate disk activity from my browsers, if that's a problem. Didn't used to be in an earlier build of this machine. Dunno what else might be relevant. I may just rebuild the OS setup and try again, since I've been using this setup for a while, and it's about due for a thorough clean-out.
