'motor' tool limits?

Hi everyone. Im a total newbie but have learned how to rotate an object using the MOTOR icon.....however....Id like to attach this rotating object to a disc which is ALSO rotating. I cant seem to find a way to do this. is it even possible in SP ? I also think I need a tutorial about axles, meshes, states....everything really. Ive had a look on Facebook, but the sound is often poor and the resolution the same. Howcome these guys have soooo many buttons? is that google PRO then?
