My apologies for the really late reply. It's long overdue. Of course, you can post any of my works anytime. However the image you uploaded was a WIP/low res image.

Please allow me to post the final renders below. These were done two years ago. I wish I can have time to revisit them and maybe add gun turrets or something, and some textures/colors.

There is nothing wrong in having a simple and friendly interface that is augmented with mostly FREE plugins. Why would it benefit you to have a cluttered UI with all the possible tools and maybe just use 10% of them, instead of having a flexible UI?

Basically, I started with basic shapes (cubes, cylinders, etc.) and slowly added details.

The file is actually not that big, about 41MB. The model has 1,808,844 faces (tris and quads), or maybe a little bit more.

I used groups as well as lots of components for repetitive elements.

It took me about 3 weeks, working a few hours each night to finish the starship.

The plugins mostly used were:

Tools on Surface
Basic tool set (Line, Arc, Circle, Push, Pull, scale, etc.)
TIG's Extrusion Tools
Joint Push Pull/NUL Transformation

These images are produced mostly in sketchup. He used to have a great wealth of info regarding this project on his blog, including tuts, workflows, etc. But as time went on it has moved to the back burner and the amount of info has decreased, but I still find it very inspirational.

He also used to have some videos on youtube showing his sketchup workflow. I forget what they were called but they're a good watch.

I love this kind of renders that preserves the original sketchy style, only SketchUp can provide...
