        And here is the collection:

        Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

        favicon

        (sketchup.google.com)

Which shows all of the models in the "preview" window.

Thanks. I really do not know what causes all these models to fail to get listed.

However they do not automatically load either. If you turn off the 3D Layer, they will not show up unless you "View in Google Earth". What I would really like to do is to load only those hat are listed (certainly the user would need to turn off the 3D Layer for this) but load automatically.

But your "View in GE" link there gave me finally the answer to how to load WH buildings with kml! (see the southpark kml attached - make sure your 3D Layer is off!).

Now also see your placemark attached where I separated the two models that only load for you with comments starting with # characters (these lines will not load in the xml file).

If you really want, you can add any other model manually, changing the links and whatnot in the table cells.

How is it best to open the .kml files as text??

In the context menu there is an item whose name I don't know in English. There you can open in a simple text editor.

Or even easier; drag and drop the kml file onto the quick launch icon of your text editor.

                Thanks Gai, I'll have play.

I just wish I knew/could understand why it won't work like it should do, as Jack's obviously does.

                Cross Alantic shout to Jack!!!

How long has it been since you created the collection, and uploaded models to it?

I have that collection (old one, at least a year) where I updated the model some time in May. No model is listed at all.

I also noticed something weird. When yopu show a model in GE, from some models, only a kml file is downloaded and inside the kml file there is reference to the WH model.dae (and images). For other models, the whole kmz file (including dae and images) is downloaded.

                    Gai...

I can't think of anything else that would cause the KML file not to produce. Giving it a day or so to migrate in would be my only suggestion.

                            Sorry Gaieus,

I hadn't had a chance to look into what issues your were talking about. I was concentrating on Lee's issues. What is it that your experiencing?

Just a little more info. This is so strange.

I was trying to understand this, so I checked all my other collections, which all appeared in 'view in google earth fine, and produced a correct placemarks.kml file.

                              • I deleted the original collection that was causing problems, and started a new one, adding all the models again. I kept checking back reguarly, and the placemarks.kml was absolutey fine. UNTIL I added the Agar and South Fork models (these were the only 2 showing in my original problem). I now only get these two models shown in the placemarks.kml file.

                              • I deleted the Agar and South Fork models from the collection, and launched the placemarks.kml file. Now, despite their being 28 other models in the collection I get a singular 'No data' placemark with no models shown.

Do you know of how I can contact google about this? Is there a mail address or an official forum? Would really like to get to the bottom of it.

It's not really a question as ou cannt now the answer but collections containing the models do not seem to depend on the time of submissions (or at least there MUST be some serious bugs in the system). See here:
                                http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=290430#p290430

There, in that collection, I would have just one model but that model should be there. Lee has a bunch of models but only two shows up (but they do show up at least).

I know Lee is taking the exam now so I do not want to go ahead and ask him to play with his submissions settings but after the evaluation, I would like to get back to him and ask him to make some experiments with me as I seem to have found some interesting problems as well.

Lee: as I saw that you are to "solve" your exam differently, leave the report for now and get the evaluation. Afterwards we are going to experiment and collect all necessary data to submit a proper bug report.

I also need to concentrate on my application submissions and during the course of doing it, I'll be able to collect more related bugs.

It's interesting that it seems to work for this collection:

This is from a wee way back in the conversation but I just stumbled across it:

                                          @jaxcoffee said:

                                          Hey Lee,

If your models are in a collection, it will create it's own KML file called Placemarks. Click on View in Google Earth off the collection and save the file to your desktop. Double clicking on that file will open it up in Google Earth.

Once it does, you can right click on it in Google Earth and save it as a KMZ file with what ever name you want.

Then you can import that KMZ file into My Maps, and the end result is something like this.

                                          http://goo.gl/uBBKc

Thought your maps visualization was really nice jax, We have a little something here to play with where you could represent this sort of thing as well: http://estate3d.com/static/show_and_tell#

Its a bit buggy right now and needs work but you get the idea.

Just some stuff I do with Sketchup.
