Snowscape garden

Attached is a low res winter version of an image I have previously uploaded with summer landscaping.I will be re rendering at a higher res and adjusting some elements(the green wheelie bin has to go!)as well a adding some reflection and bump to the ground/patio area(here actually missing a stone texture) and roof.I am not to sure about the green foreground plant but I think it needs some colour to contrast with the main blues.
Regarding the roof, does anybody have a good natural slate texture I could use?

hi david, nice composition and mood. although (i hate to nitpick) the car just doesn't improve the image....im not sure if its the mass or the chrome rims or both!!! perhaps a smaller model would look better? or just the suggestion of a car....i dunno it kinda dwarfs the house.
i have posted a slate texture (with bump) on this forum last week, but i cant find it. anyone remember?

David I always love your renders! You always seem to capture that perfect "stalker in the bushes" vantage points to shoot from. I would love to see some snow on the house, patio and car. It would be a great winter theme image. But please don't bring winter too early, I'm not ready for it just yet!!!

I do like your renders as well.
Adam some of us would not mind -
Very good as usual, my nitpick is the blue reflection on the driveway which makes it look like mirror or metal. I would have expected either slush and black top or just new fallen snow.

I agree on the car. My eye was taken to the care far before the house. I would lose the car and concentrate on the house.

hi guys
thanks for the crits.yes the car is too forward and i will be changing that.I also need to add some snow on the roof, frost and icicles etc to the main image.
oli, good too see you are ok from your recent accident buddy
earthmover,I always try to make my images look like they are taken from "outside looking in" if thats make sense.regarding winter coming too soon,i live in ireland,i think we guys are heading for a major deep freeze, weather wise and financially speaking.
roger, concerning the blue look, its halfway thru to being ice and probably snow,i did a similar scene on a different project but cannot for the life of me find the original photoshop image(version this and change that...)
I have done a few versions of this scene(its a family job) and I would really like to upload the sketchup model and the full photoshop scene with all entourage skies etc.will keep you posted -
Nice work David. I think I understand what you are trying to achieve with this render .... 'unposed composition'? It works for me. I see so many 'dramatic compositions' and while they are normally excellent technically, they don't give that 'lived in' look for me. The wheely bin is a nice touch. I had to laugh when I saw it as there was a wheely bin outside my house in Ennis when the Google StreetView guys drove by
BTW, attached is a slate texture that I use. I must try to mod this image to create a 'slate and a half' every second course .... the proper way to do things
Mike
