[Split] My render - your opinion?
-
Hi,
I am a newbie, just registered.
I am trying to get around moving to and fro from sketchup. For the time being I only have the free program, used a plug in to export DXF files, used Blender to transform it to .obj, and imported it to Poser. Complicated, Poser won't accept the DXF but gets along fine with the .obj. So the file was a Pantheon temple built in Sketchup, and this is the render in Poser, no postwork. Still playing with it ...

Hi Marco,
Welcome to the forum.
This is a good start, but you can improve your render with better modeling, texturing, and lighting.
If you are more comfortable using poser, then do it. But I would suggest to try some rendering programs that are inside Sketchup such as Podium, Twilight, Light Up or Vray for Sketchup. Of course some of them are not free, but you might get better results. They have free trials for 30 days if you're interested. I like these rendering engines because they work within Sketchup, therefore not need for exporting/importing.
Best,
_KN

Welcome and as ken said, a good start.
@ken: Kepf may has his own plans when importing to poser.
Even better kepf, you could export the obj from poser to blender and render there (much more options), you may want to convert obj to 3ds (blender) and export to SU free. I like imports-exports, I'm good on this LOL
But the real problem is the exports from SU (especially the free version). The pro version has a decent obj exporter OK. Try to find and use the SU6. It exports to google earth (google earth 4) format. Rename it to .zip, unzip it and you find a decent collada file at last. Use this. Don't expect much from textures though, the reversed (bluish) faces are a problem.
