      Hello to all,
unfortunately I'm running into a slider problem again.

I've drawn two horizontal cylinders which are static, on top of them I made a box which slides very nicely...

But I've also added a flange constructed out of segments and have not used a circle to build it, but somehow I don't get it to slide over the cylinder.

Many thanks in advance for any hints.

      Regards from Switzerland

so ive seen the model. i cant really understand what your trying to say, can you explain it more.

do you want the flange thingy to go under the block ontop, or what?

        cus from what you said,

to me, the flange thingy does go over the cylinder.

can you explain it in more detail plese.

        thanks.

If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.

I've downloaded the model, and after some time I figured it out.
The sliders had "Max" values that stop the sliders to "slide" on to the cylinders.
I deleted them and it works great. (and if you want to stop the slider at the end of cylinders, just put in a negative value in the "Min" box.)

            Ciao "hpnisse",
do you have a "real" name as well?

anyway, your hint solved my problem at first...

            STUPID ME!

thanks for being so kind and helping an absolute beginner.

I will have to test it again in my much more complex design, as I'm not quite sure if it will work there as well, as the stuff posted was just a quickly created example out of the blue.

First of all, many thanks for the very prompt hints!

I've just added an other part which starts to behave strange again...

              SLIDING NOT POSSIBLE!

I'm totally lost and can't make a story out of it...

Many thanks for supplying me with further hints!

              Good nite

hmmm right, i think ive found the problem. Its the collision geomatry.

youve set one to nocollison in the UI menu.

                • When you open the UI menu, click on the part going wrong.
                • At the top of the UI box, there are loads of tick-boxes. One of them should say nocollison.
                • Click this and then it should not collide with anything.

Now press play and it should work.

If you can read this, thank a teacher.

Hello again, first, Yes I have a real name: Tim. πŸ˜„

I've downloaded your model and do stuffs that I think you want it to be.
The "Sliding" stuffs had tooo many groups, you don't need that, so just one "Big" group with all small Groups inside. I don't know if the physics simulation can't handle to many groups.

And then I changed the groups that are around the cylinders to "Convexhull", and the cylinder was not in the right direction, so the cylinders where the big problem in your model.

I upload the fixed model, and just say if there is'nt right.

                    Hello Tim,
many thanks for your hint and the upload of the fixed model!

To be honest I'd never would have solved this issue on my own.

But with all those very competent answer I get here in this form my learning curve starts to accelerate exponentially...

                    You're my hero!

Have a great day and greetings from a sunny Switzerland.
