Chain simulation
-
Hi all,
First time poster - I'm new to SP (and SU). I am making some jewelry chain in Rhino where every link is very organically-shaped, but basically a donut. I am trying to get a sense of how the chain will lie, and I think SketchyPhysics will be a life-saver. however, I'm having problems getting the thing rigged.
Using someone else's example, I divided each link into 10 separate solids and grouped each as a convex hull. Then group the lot of them back into one group ("link") and then did this procedure to each link. The problem I'm having is that when I play the simulation, the parts convulse around on the ground until they blow apart. Once apart, they sit on the ground as you'd expect. What am I missing? Attached is a similar assembly...
OK: UPDATE: I just opened this file and now it's behaving properly. I have no idea what changed, but perhaps someone else might be able to tell me if this is, in fact, the best way to make link chain like this?
Thanks for your help,
Declan

Thanks, Pilou,
I actually use a VERY similar (albeit slightly more robust) plugin for Rhino called Array Curve Plus. So, I'm able to get the chain constructed, I was just having problem with Sketchy Physics acting.... sketchy. It was, and is again, making my groups bounce around like they were having convulsions. It worked fine earlier today, and now when I start it, it does the same thing again.
