Escher

It was fast sketchy work - 10min modelling / 5min rendering, no fiddling with lights and materials.
I wil not post the model. The solution is simple, try to figure it out
Pilou: Nice job
Btw here is my inspiration:

Alright...I think I figured it out but wow did my eyes get messed up looking at it. Very cool.

haha. I didn't actually try to build it. I just kept looking at your model and the photo of your inspiration photo. And I mentioned that I "think" I figured it out...not sure if I am any where close to be right or not.

thats better! the illusion is complete!
i only wanted the model to look at, i know how it works; the shadow gave it away!!
-
I made it but I still don't understand it haha
does this clear things up? haha

The model is quite elementary dear Watson. You can make your own within few minutes
-
Yep...it was the shadow for me as well. If the shadow had not been in the first picture I think I might of been perplexed still.

Nice ... it's isometric view isn't it?
-
yes iso....
perspective is possible but harder. if you look at the model in xray its very easy deleting the bits you need....but it still hurts my brain!!

This is really cool.
I just could not figure out how you guys built it.
Can you please post the Skp model?
Thanks,

Hey, I have been just contemplating about this task

-
I have posted it before...
I went to a small but good Escher exhibition in Helsinki last weekend
Anssi -
I tried to reproduce Anssis model and discovered something strange.
I used sun for scene illumination (scene was set to iso view).
Sun should be source of parallel rays and so the shadows of parallel objects should be parallel as well.I was able to fit shadows edges to the edges of parallel objects in SU scene, but shadows generated in Twilight have:
a) different angle in reference to SU shadows
b) they are not parallelMay be that Twilights sun object is extremly distant point light?? .. or ??
Here is printscreen ...

yes That's true. Mindbreaking, but easy to make. and the result is very cool. But how you rendered it?
