The Art of SketchUp - part 1: Fantasy

Love all of your work, Ken. I appreciate the artistry you used in using the Skylander style in various ways, so all the models carry the same graphic and fantasy world character! Then you are doing all the composition and coloring for a finished presentation-- all with the same feel.! Wow!
Thanks for your kind comment, Peter. Glad you like them. It really enjoyed working on them. Something whimsical and fun, kind of different form the realistic hardcore fantasy style I always do.

I prefer now more zen game!
Interesting game. Maybe you should build that in Sketchup and render it.
Here are some older stuff from Rift.
This tree is huge, spanning hundreds of meters. You can actually walk inside the trunk to go from one side to the other.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi guys,
I hope you had a great weekend.
Here's something different from the other conceptual sketchup models. Instead of doing detailed Sketchup models, I sometimes sketch on top of simple Sketchup models to add details that would take a long time to do in Sketchup.
Have a wonderful week!

Thanks for your comment, Pilou.
Here are some more sketches of fantasy architecture done for the MMO Rift.
As usual, they are sketched on top of Sketchup models.
Take care,

It's completely inconceivable to me that one person could churn out so many fantastic creations. You are like an amazing-idea factory, and in comparison I'm like a guy puttering in his garage.
WOW

Ken as usual I'm in awe looking at your work, looking forward to seen some more

Wow, as usual!

It's beyond me how one person can create all this.
Fast, high quality production. Your employer must love youWould be cool to see actual renders of the Dive Bar and Maxis.

Thanks for your kind comments, Adorno.
Your profile says "SketchUp use: game and/or sci-fi modelling". I would love to hear more about what you do with Sketchup if you don't mind my asking. Thanks!
Have a great day!

I make models for (historical) mods (the little known indie game Mount&Blade), and fun.
But very poorly - not even close to your level.--> Hi Adorno. Your models are great. I like them. They reminded of the works I did on Gods and Heroes (Mythological MMO from the Roman Empire http://godsandheroes.com/). Your project (Mount&Blade) looks pretty cool.

WOW
Thanks for your kind words, Mr. M. You might be puttering in your garage as you say, but I saw the stuff that came of that magic garage of yours: wonderful car models and super renders of gas station and other buildings...from Sketchup without any rendering engines! Wow

A few more Simcity concepts:
This Dive Bar below was the first assignment on my first day at work @ EA/Maxis.
Burgers and fries, anyone?
Just a simple apartment building.
Thanks for visiting!

Hi guys,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
So I finally got the green light to post the concepts I did for Simcity 5 (http://www.simcity.com/).
Here are some of them at larger resolution than the ones I posted earlier. Keep checking this thread as I will add more concepts whenever I have time.
For those of you who have played the game, you may recognize some of the buildings.
Comments + questions are welcome.
Thanks for stopping by.

Beautifully done. I supose there not ADA compliant ether. (Ha)
-
Impressive. The red car looks kind of small, and it's also a nice car for someone living in a 'shed'.

>> Thanks, Ccaponigro. I included ADA compliance in the design of some of my first concepts, but the Art Director told that we can skip it and have a more simplified design since these buildings are for video games.

>> Thank you for your kind words, Adorno. Similar to my answer above, vehicles, props and people are also simplified and smaller than real life proportions.
**Hello everyone,
It has been a while I have not posted some stuff for Rift. (http://www.riftgame.com/en/)
So I dug out some older conceptual models I did.
