Critique my kitchen
-
This is my first render attempt using Sketchup/Twilight/Kerkythea.
I'd love for you guys to critique it a bit, especially as relates to the subtleties of the lighting.
Yea, I hate the material on the frig too.

Excellent for a first render, seriously. Nice layout, good entourage, and well lit.
Now for critiques
The lighting scheme is fine, but there are some harsh shadows, especially on the island and in the corner above the microwave. Increasing the radius of your spotlight will fix the harsh shadows. The cabinet material tiles badly - find a higher res texture. The ceiling fixture on the top right of your image looks muted/dull compared to the other fixtures - try making that texture a fake emitter in Twilight.
Post again when you have updated!
Cheers,
Marcus

As Marcus stated, the wood texture on the cabinets is not working; try Arroway Textures - they have some free, high resolution wood textures (you might find a better one for the floor, too). On a design note, anyone sitting at those stools will bang their legs/feet against the contents of those open shelves below. You might want to consider increasing the counter overhang to provide more leg room.
