Great model Rob. What app did you model it in?

Rob used SU to make the model. It is up on Form Fonts now.

I am astounded that was modeled in SU. I love to hear about the process and tools used.

Basically its done with a very crappy 3D reference model wich I cut up on all sides to get a basic shape (kinda like clay sculpting) after that I took pictures of a Buddha top front side back etc etc and I started modelling just as you would a car. After that a lot of FFD transformation and welding of points to clean up.

                            Modelled 100% in sketchup
Model is up on FormFonts now, there if you follow the geometry (especially on the chest area) you can see its also a lot of follow me curves superimposed on the basic "clay" model.

Incredible work Rob. Well done. I just can't get over how clean the mesh is.

So you created the general shape and then added to the surface topology to create the robe and other features? Brilliant work!

Jup I consider 3D modelling organic surfaces like making a clay model. Though I did use a poser model for the face as reference.
Faces are difficult. Also not entirely happy with the hands and feet. But thats just between jou and me πŸ˜›
