So how was that lit? I seem to have trouble just getting a good ambient light for stuff like that.

the edges are too rounded and obviously spots are missing!

try using a studio setup with emitters or just use a studio hdri for light (with no other light sources)...it looks like u using just sun and sky for this, no? also try simple tone mapping instead of linear and drop your gamma a little bit-it seems to makie translucent materials more 'punchy' and saturated. use a preset that has good caustics too like 10+ or high+. sorry to hijack thread eric

Yeah. . these were my joke dice. They always turn up losers. And yeah. . i accentuated the round-y-ness.
