Hey Eric...that's pretty cool! How long did it take to model?
Jeff -
Maybe an hour. I did it over lunch and dinner (15 hour work day and this is how I relax )
-
you should really make a set of those for forum use. its kinda weird when you consider its a forum for 3d and we're using 2d emots
-
Rocky, I think I am going to hold on to this model rather than post it up. I have more plans for it.
Here are some more snapshots. All just over 1 min. except the last one, I left it overnight using a progressive preset. -
no problem. good idea though , i think i'll take a crack at it too! love the lighting on those last shots, is that just a box with a light shining into it?
-
No lights other than the HDR. I then adjusted the gamma and exposure after the render was done.
Select Spherical Sky and then navigate to your selected hdr.
Here is the studio setup.

nice setup! why can i see a reflection that looks like a box?
mine kinda sucks?? i booleaned the mouth, now i have funky geometry. tried and tried to fix it, no luck.
this shows how i feel half the time!
-
cute... hehehehe. why not try to produce emoticons using rendered images like this.

The "box" is part of the hdr.
Here is where I got the hdr (link provided by olishea):
http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93122And in the preview for some of them here you can see a series of light "boxes", this is creating the box you see in the reflection of the smiley.

Hi Eric,
Either it's too early and I need coffee or the link isn't there for the download. What am I missing?
Jeff
-
Well I see a link I posted. It takes you to another site with a number of hdr free downloads.
-
Oh man.....I should know better than to post a question in the early morning when I've only had ONE coffee! Doh! Thanks Eric
