Expanded file import plugin?

I'm wondering if anyone has seen a plugin that allows for more import options.
Specifically, I want to be able to control the resolution of imported raster images, and import PDFs as vector data.
I've been frustrated when importing rasterized blue prints, because the image in sketchup is too blurry to read dimension values, etc...
Even on the mac version, where you can import a PDF (and it rasterizes it), the resolution comes out too low to see fine details.
Are there any options out there? I currently have no plugins installed which address file importing (other than those that came with SU 7.1)
