Now i let you the steps that i have made to have a good beam of light (The image is a quarter of the real size):

                                http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3425/3909692816_9c3b0bbc47_o.jpg

                                Photoshop

A layer in black. New layer on top.

                                1. Filter / Render / Lens flare. Blending mode: Screen
                                2. Duplicate and Blending mode: Vivid light
                                3. Duplicate layer
                                4. Duplicate layer and move forward to fill the beam
                                5. Same as #4
                                6. Same as #4
                                7. Same as #4
                                8. New layer and draw a white line over the beam. Blending mode: Screen. Filter / Blur / Gaussian blur
                                9. Duplicate layer. Blending mode: Soft light.
                                10. Radial gradient, color cyan. Blending mode: Overlay.

                                That is all, folks! 💚
