Can anyone tell me why, when I attach a joint to some groups, and hit run, they flip on an axis? No matter how I position the joint this continually happens for some groups.

I just read somewhere that components behave the same as groups in SP but the objects that are flipping are components, if i re-create them as groups they are fine.....not sure why

Just some stuff I do with Sketchup.

Sketchyphysics and components have problems some times. If they work as groups you might as well keep them groups.

I'm not sure if you approached this accurately. there are no uncommon characteristics of the two in terms of the simulation - it's probably because you flipped the group or components. If it's a problem with the gyro, delete the code in the controller field.

A few things that can cause bugs:

-Intersecting collision geometry (Right click/debug/readback collision geometry/play the sim)
-Flipping objects (Right click/flip along...) has unpredictable results. Try to avoid.
-Scaling a convex hull's group will mess it up. Try to edit inside the group, or explode/re-group to fix.
-Neverevereverever copy joints. Or anything with joints inside. It makes the simulation cry...

Anyway, it sounds like you have messed up gyros. Try what Physicsguy said... oh, and when bug fixing, posting the model always helps. The upload option is beneath save/preview/submit when writing a reply, or editting a post.

Wacov that is the best rundown I have seen. I like the "simulation cry" bit.😄
