Airplane Study
-
A while back I found a very interesting airplane image and thought I would try to model it in SketchUp. I started it a couple weeks ago and spent a couple hours doing the body. Today I had some time so I continued with the wings and guns. So far I am pushing myself but at the same time finding it very satisfying. The design is not my own. I give full credit to "cannon" from Germany, whoever you are. I plan on taking this to a full rendering most likely with V-ray. I only have one perspective of this subject so I am certain my interpretation of it may be a bit off but who cares, this is fun.

I am guessing I am about 4-5 hours into this by now however I am not paying too much attention to time. Anyway, here are some clay renderings of my progress so far.

Thats looking very cool Eric.
I cannot wait to se it in full color, any chance of seeing a hidden line snapshot? as I'm interested in your bolean/merge joints/seams.

I love airplanes and this is great, I cant wait to see final product!

I love it, any chance this could fly.

Great work Eric! Like Coen said...not you (typically) but this is really a neat idea. I love the jet exhaust!

I'm liking the cartoony style as well

Cool stuff, Eric. Do post more.

Looks deadly.

Here are a few more progress shots. As I am not able to see beneath the airplane in the image I am working off of, the missiles are my own design. I have not yet decided if I will keep them.

is this SU output? (as in, no external renderer)
the model is looking sweet.
props! -

It is [kawaii-lovely/wonderful-suteki] in Japanese. -

props! Thanks Jeff. All modeling is SketchUp and the output is V-ray with no textures, a line overlay and an infinite plane for the ground.
Coen, I plan on posting the reference image once I finish.
Thanks again all for the comments.

Heh, I was thing that the model had the semlance of T-6, F6F or F8F aircraft. Pretty neat, very nice work with the modeling! Actually, it looks like there's a little Gee Bee racer mixed in there too...
