WIP GP 9 LOCOMOTIVE
-
I have not posted anything for some time now but the latest LOCOMOTIVE postings have made me want to give it a go again so here goes.
I have chosen the GP 9 locomotive as i found good drawings of it to work fromI was encouraged by the start so decided to record and post my progress
This is where it stands this evening because of mistakes, false starts, redrawing, new ideas etc I have spent about 6 hours (of sheer SU pleasure) to get to here, hoping i can make better progress from now on
Any comments appreciatedthanks guys

Thanks for the comments guys, the links that you highlighted are the very ones that got me inspired to have a go, and i am enjoying it, thanks to all
-
Hey, looks great! Please do continue. Cheers!
-
thanks for the encouragement this is my progress for Sunday approximately 5 hours work (including mistakes etc etc)....the going is slow but sure
Of course i have NOW come across some good photos of the bogie so that is due for an upgrade (big time)
I like jobs where the end is not in sight more like a merry-go-round see later -
Very nice, you could try to keep it under 50,000 polys and be able to enjoy it in Rail-Simulator and make use of the time spent!
I've been also wanting to do an American locomotive, is there a blueprint site that stands out? I'm not too inclined in doing the common SD40-2. Cheers! -
Here you go Radu, all sorts of vehicle blueprints, and heaps of trains.
-
The spring on the bogie is AWFUL!!! needs to stick out much farther...
Told you I'd yell...

Thanks Dantheman for keeping me honest, but in fairness i had said that i was completely re-drawing the WHOLE bogie having gotten some clear images to work from. thanks for the pic and site you posted...more tonight (SA time) cheers
-
I did better than expected today appart from a fair amount of detail to the loco shell i also re-drew the bogie to me it looks much better than before
Don't ask about the polly count that's out the window I have decided to plow on and finish the model then return and seriously tackle the problem of polly reduction.
The drawing from which the latest 2D pics was taken is 4.89 meg and rising -
this is gonna deserve an awesome render.
