Making good use of Profile Builder
-
Nice work so far mate. I've got to get the profile builder as it will save me a load of time.
What would be really great would be some plugin that could allow pseudo lighting within SU, especially for interiors. Turning off shadows for loads of things always ends up with a weird result which is a shame. Especially as a lot of the time there's no need for real lighting and materials.

Well I finally got a render I can start to work with. With all the detail in the moulding this render takes forever even on a 8 core machine. Overall I am pretty happy with it. I still have alot of lighting work to be done and some more texture tweaking but this is a start.
Comments welcome.

Depends on the render application you're using...

Vray for now but I have a bunch more I could throw it at if I am not happy with it.

The moulding geometry shouldn't cause vray too much of a problem with speed if its only got a simple diffuse colour, the wallpaper map and floor and surfaces with reflections in my experience are more likely to take time due to the way the sampler operates. Care to post a screen dump of your settings?
The cupola / roof light at the ceiling looks a bit faceted to me. Is this meant or something you could smooth?
The composition looks odd to me at the moment but perhaps a single door in one of the foreground wall's and a sideboard with appropriate clutter on the opposite, pictures on walls would bring it to life a bit more.
All depends which direction you want your side project to go.

Realistic.

Thank you David. It is getting there slowly.

what about lightup?

While Lightup is good more I think quick and basic scenes I do not think it would touch the quality of Vray. Yes, it's cheaper, easier, etc. but at the end of the day I will wait for quality.

can I say something? I can?
Part of modeling I see very well, probably should have increased the number of sides in the circle because the roof is faceted (as said DzineTech)
Add anything else on the scene to give it more life, this all that much empty space, maybe pictures or things like that.
add some bump to the floor, because it seems like a single piece of wood, I might have to have some separation as boards or something.
shadows are very hard, perhaps by increasing the radius of the sun are somewhat more diffuse and more real.
but I want to stress that in general terms is a very good picture and I like the style of the space.
