Here are a few images of an accommodation study I have just completed. The images show part of a vacuum chamber with a support frame. The frame will support an optical instrument that needs to be tested under thermal-vacuum conditions. I have used stainless steel Unistrut to construct the framework. The copper panels (slightly translucent) are cooled by a cooling loop and surround the instrument under test. The trolley and framework have ball castors so that the instrument on its baseplate can be easily rolled out of the chamber.

      Regards,
      Bob

I have no idea what that is, but I must say I like the model. πŸ‘

Same here. Great model! I'd love to see someone render it for you....hint hint.

Have I mentioned how much of a laugh I get out of some of the Signatures on here!

            Dear Stinkie,

The images show part of a large vacuum vessel. The inner diameter of the end cap is 2.2 metres, and the overall length of the vessel is 4.4 metres (image here http://www.atm.ox.ac.uk/main/Facilities/2point2_metre_facility/index.html). Another group at the University would like to test their spectrograph in our vacuum chamber, and so I have modified an existing support frame to accommodate their instrument. I thought that some Forum members might be interested in what one can do with Sketchup after a lot of practice, hence this thread.

            Kind regards,
            Bob

Spectograph, vacuum chamber ... Chinese to me, mate! 😎 Nevertheless, if you got some more images, by all means post them.

"I'd like to test my spectograph in your vacuum chamber." There's a pickup line I've never used.

Impressive modeling, Bob. I noticed on the last image that curved shapes have lines - you should use the hide command (Shift+eraser).

                My avatar is an anachronism.

                  Dear Daniel,

Thank you for your kind comments. I left in the lines as alignment aids.

                  Kind regards,
                  Bob
