I believe it came at the same time as the 66% column width did [couple of weeks?]

Correct guys. On Dec. 17th Coen increased the image upload size.

Thanks, Boo, but when I posted the same size stuff last week this didn't happen (and my post this AM is the only time I've seen it anywhere so far ?~) Oh well, got it now.
