Just to show that Sketchup can be used for other things other than architecture and furniture, here are some design studies for a vacuum chamber

Awesome job Watkins! Did you do the exploded view manually?

            Cheers,

            Jeff

Have I mentioned how much of a laugh I get out of some of the Signatures on here!

              Dear All,

Many thanks for all your kind words. I use SU for design concepts and then switch to a 3D CAD program for detailing. The exploded view was done by hand.

The chamber is designed for ultra-high vacuum and uses metal seals (copper gaskets).

              Regards,
              Bob

Good stuff, always nice to see something a it of the beaten track in terms of what SU is used for.

might i ask what the poly count on it is?

                  Dear Remus,

Sorry for this late reply but I'm in India at the moment and do not have access to the model. The model is quite large (several MB)because I tend not to optimise file size if it's a design study and not needed for anything else. I also use 48 segments when drawing largish circles to give a smoother appearance. For really large stuff (radii between 500 and 1000 mm) I use 96 segments.
                  Regards,
                  Bob
