Activate apps in SU for MACs

I often use a screencapture tool ( beneath some others )in SU. For windows I have a script to activate an .exe directly in SU. ( similar to the calc.rb, which runs out of the system32 folder )
Is something like this possible for a Mac? -
would command-shift-4 do the trick ?
