Silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWK
-
hi ceesboersen
Making the form of the helicopter was easy with a little bit of trial and error too. First step, i probably should have shown it. I trace the helicopter from the bottom and side. Then i extrude both (bottom and side to meet each other) and then i intersect it with each other. And then just cut off the parts i dont need. I only need half of the model, so i also cut the model in half. Creating ribs is a random thing and yo uput it in as you think it would be useful further up. Once there and you have the ribs, you dont need the rest, so i delete it. Rounding the edges, and then used a tool called skin. This links 2 planes together. So i did that per rib to fill up the model. I know this sounds a little vague, but i will try to explain in my next post.

Thnaks for the explanation. Maybe i'll try it later, but i dont like a lot making transport units!

Oke thanks for the information. I tried it like that way before and it looks not so nice as yours. Maybe i have to make mor slices to make is soften and smooth. Thanks for the information
-
i know its not as easy and is more of a trial and error and sometimes comes to manually fill spaces to get the look right. Body work of anything do take probably the longest in models like these. Don't give up, you'll get it right

stunning work !! thought i understood SU limits but obviously not. so i have a similar question to above, wouldn't this have been easier to do in Rhino? i am just about to start learning rhino for this reason but maybe i just need to have a good look at SU7.
-
i think any program has its ups and downs in modelling different parts where its maybe easy in one application and hard in the other one. Haven't played with Rhino yet. Mixing platforms is sometimes the best to get good results, the more you know and are able to do..the better. Sketchup is pretty cool still and still try to push it harder and harder. The more practice, the better you get. I think this works for anything in life..if you stop practicing, you rust up and forget. Best solution, find something you like, and stick to that as you main modelling engine.

Phenomenal. Truly phenomenal. Everything about it is impressive but my god man, the level of detail on rotors is what really really impressed me. i just read through the whole thread and there is nothing more to add, everything has been said, except i do have a question: where is Eye Candy 3? And which was Eye Candy 1???
-
Without letting the proverbial cat out the bag...Eye candy 3 will happen soon, and brace yourself for it, as it's a whopper. I was able to get a sneak peak during the early phases and that already hurt my jaw as it hit the ground.
Oh! Jacques...no pressure.
-
Hmm ... Totally looking forward to it. Bring it on!

Silver Shadow:
You know, I thought your village on the water was face melting.
The fact that you took the effort to document the many steps in the development of the blackhawk is devastating, or humbling--or epiphanic--if that's a word.
Any further comment would be gibberish.

I've always thought SU as a good tool to draw houses, fornitures, trading centres, etc. I mean apart from the personal abilities, I think you'are really talented...I thought SU didn't allow certain kind of projects, like a professional Cad does...but I was absolutely wrong. If I've thought that about SU is not because I'm a professional designer hard to please, with preconceived ideas, but just because I've never seen such a good project of this type made with SU.
What you did is amazing -
another superb work from u....
realy need a patience... -
Complimenti Jacques, sei un mostro di bravura!
