For us in Quebec "5 to 10 degrees" isn't very cold in winter. The average temperature in winter in Quebec is near minus 15. (the record temperature was minus 36,1 degrees in january 1962)
In Quebec, we must put some fur on your window in winter.
PS: My son was at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre last may and june to learn portugese. He really like your city and the people of Brazil.
