What's up with people still calling themselves to be 'Punk' (or 'post-punk' as they think that is more acceptible)?
Punk died some decades ago. The queen has been shaved one time too many .

FFS, where is the "ignore member's posts" button when you need one?

Your a smart-arsed, arrogant, cruel bastard...but you know.....I believe you actually care about the Bar...[as I do].....and it needs a good flush out....and mate, a lot of your swings drew blood....but you know, in the end, its not the Bar of old....its changed...and no amount of ranting will bring it back...time to move on......and find a bar with better wavesBloody hell ... Turning it into a convention of middle-aged suits wailing 'bout the days of old, and how much better those were (oh! the winters back then!), isn't gonna do much good, now is it? Add something worthwhile yourself, or put a sock in it. I saw punk mentioned ... DIY ... Why don't you two good ol' boys take that little acronym to heart, eh?

It's in the User Control Panel > Friends & Foes.
As the FAQ says, "If you add a user to your foes list, any posts they make will be hidden by default." AFAIK he/she cannot even PM you then.
I wonder what happens to a topic once a "Foe" starts it - maybe you cannot even see that until someone responds.
I cannot try it for as an Admin I ought to know what's going on the board.
-
Just did a quick test, and all posts by that person are hidden by a little 'this person is in your foe list- click here to show this post.' thing, so im guessing if that person were to start a new thread you would just get that inside it.
-
Ah, thanks, Remus.
Edit: BTW you cannot put a moderator or administrator on your Foe list

I wouldnt dream of it gai

Goon of Doom
Please think before you speak. I have been a silent party to these forums for some time. While your concept of what you hope to accomplish is not wrong. It is completely the wrong approach and typical of the younger 20-30 generation. I have always told my kids that constructive criticism is productive, destructive criticism destroys the human spirit. Your concise profile does not hide the fact that you are miserable and no doubt perpetuating another generation of the same, while on the outside projecting laughter and a facade.
Many of those that participate in these types of forums (which I have not been a proponent of) are truly seeking inspiration and encouragement to build upon a foundation of good works and benefit humanity as a whole. Design in itself has (2) sides, to satisfy the individual or inspire others. I tell you the greater goal is to benefit others! Pride in a persons own intellect and desires has created the sad state of affairs we see today. Some of the most inspiring historical artifacts of the past were conceived and created after the destruction and loss of men's self-centered ambitions, not during. I hope to see some of the best of your work and relationships, the same.
Until then rant on and then these words will take fruit. Not God!

While I am formulating my thoughts to small08 Let me say that this man has really struck a cord of honest self reflection from me As for Mr lucies debate challenge small08 is the clear leader at this point
Thank you small 08

Goon of Doom we have our defender. He rides a white steed
and has a pure sprit! You shall be defeatedQuote.
The clouds are broken in the sky,
And thro' the mountain-walls
A rolling organ-harmony
Swells up, and shakes and falls.
Then move the trees, the copses nod,
Wings flutter, voices hover clear:
"O just and faithful knight of God!
Ride on! the prize is near."
So pass I hostel, hall, and grange;
By bridge and ford, by park and pale,
All-arm'd I ride, whate'er betide,
Until I find the holy Grail.Mike

Well, Stinker, I can only speak for myself of course...but my main [half cocked] aim is to save this place, for people like you with maybe half a brain, from being hijacked by pushy, smug but stunningly mediocre teenagers who seem to regard this forum as their own banal little playground.
But your right...I should shut up and move on.

Stinkie, Stu,
I think you two got your wires (and subsequently swords) crossed there- like Csaba I also thought your (Stu) closing line implied your intent to move to pastures new, rather than suggesting Jimmy do so... which completely altered the tone of your post. I guess stinkie thought the same?
Now where's that tone of voice button...?

I don't get what worries people about the content on the forum, and in particular the content of the corner bar.
Some observations:
1: if you don't want chatter, don't open the corner bar section.Avoid it. (yes, that was simple )
2: the beauty of a forum is that threads live up or die by natural selection. If a thread sucks it won't get response and will automatically sink into oblivion.
3: A forum like this one has thousands of members,so thousands of different personalities. This should give a reasonable 'natural variation' to the contenance of threads.
4: start your own 'interesting' threads if you think the world is ready for it.
5: If you think there is really nothing interesting to see on a particular forum , then maybe, over time, your interests shifted to other things. Can happen, as people change throughout their lifes and careers, new interests come up and maybe other forums start to look more appealing to you than the ones you currently visit... If you're bored by your current car, buy a new one (or adopt a second one).
-
Well good, now we're getting around to it.
I too see some (a lot?) of the bar topics lately and think "that's silly", then later in the day, when there are a page and a half of responses to a couple, wonder "how silly". Usually I'll finally read thru them the day after, when the page count is up to three or four, and do often enjoy the banter. It's like cubicle chatter: sometimes you listen to understand the people better, sometimes you join in with your words on the subject...sometimes you just put on your headphones.
As far as topical, delicate, or demanding discussions: I miss those too, very much! (I consider myself part of the reason they went away here...not able last year to stomach the school-yard bully at that time, nor stifle my knee-jerk reactions.) But I and others have tried several times in the last few months to get a "deeper" thread going, only to have them die after a couple of responses...as Kwist said. And I gotta say: I don't recall any comments on those from the people complaining here...which is sad, because I value your insight and considered opinions.
But: Another bellicosely insipid-hideous fouling the air with insults isn't gonna bring back intellegent conversation for sure...!

Allrighty. Now ... let the constructive postin begin. Toss some interesting rocks in the frog pond. Bad metaphore, but you get the point.

Not God!Too all.
This guy has hit the nail on the head. My criticism of those who challenged me was destructive in tone and it was my hope that it could be seen as for what it was. A person who truly knows less than nothing about the other spewing venom via the internet across (literal & figurative) oceans.
The benefit you speak of to others is testimate that in the 4 days since this was started my thread has had 103 posts and 1550 @ looks I am thinking that
those sort of numbers on this Forum is in the extraordinary column? Mike may know? The same reason folks watch NASCAR at Daytona is the same reason some contribute to the Goon Of Dooms sort of sav ois fare? The big wreck. The reason I did it is unknown? I did find it somehow healing and a creative outlet. Just as I do not get the art of Jackson Pollock is true that others do not get GoD. See him as a fraud. But I am sure that their are reasons that are too deep and varied for accurate comprehension from me? Basically it made me smile. But I know that here there are those who are truly proud of who they are and what they know and I see that to attack them is unfair and just wrong in the truest sense of the word. So that is it from GoDLooking back on GoDs latest antics I would have to agree that their is not much inspiration in it. Many I am sure are convinced I can contribute nothing but hate. I am an idiot, I am a homophobic, I am a bully etc... Well. GoD is not who I am now or ever was really. But I am convinced he lives in all of us to a degree? My reason for putting GoDs words down was to voice an opinion that is way too out of bounds in a workplace sort of setting. Mainly it makes me laugh at the notion that there is a person out there who is truly the biggest egotistical dick of all time. That combined with absolutely crazy and living in a fantasy world is not a good mix. Usually these types do not survive, are in jail, or beaten to a silence. The arm chair shrinks in all of you can hypothesize all you wish on why anyone would do as I have. And you would hit on many truisms I am sure. I would love to read them as a continuation of this thread.
As a man of my word I have attempted to admit to my defeats and failings.
To Ross. I did not make my last goal of 40 posts
To Mike. Hope is the most Precious thing I got so I hope to be speaking to you again.
To small08 Your fellow forum members have you to thank for silencing GoD. Also what I have learned from you is how to say so much using the fewest words possible. Although this reply does not demonstrate this.
To Jackson I do not know you, I know nothing about you and am sorry if I offended you?
Kwisten has got skills
To Tomsdesk While I know nothing of you I know that their is an interesting story in you make the most of your next stories creation.
To Craig I would love to hear a story about what it is like to really trust a tire at 170 plus.Stay well friends
