Hospice in Louisiana
-
This is a project I've been working on in Louisiana. It still needs some work. I personally don't like how the horizon line looks in the distance, too abrupt. I'd also like to add some more vegetation around the building but still keep the simple style. The client wants a movie too, so I'm hoping to keep as much in Sketchup as I can. Any suggestions on how to spice it up, in Sketchup/Photoshop? I'm a Photoshop novice so any tricks would be a big help.
Thanks all. -
Render it, it will look awesome.
I like the name: Agape - Unconditional love

I haven't taken the rendering plunge yet. Its all a bit overwhelming. Sooo many settings. I like the more simple look of the Sketchup images anyhoo. The client doesn't get too focused on pretty tress or flashy reflections. I've been looking over some the the digital watercolor posts and hopefully can give that a try when I have a bit more time. Thanks though.

Sounds like you should check out podium: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=11683
Its about as simple as rendering can get.

Nice model. Where in Louisiana?

I like this. You have chosen a nice viewpoint.

Nice start.
To answer your question... since you are not going to render this and use straight SU output I would change up your plant material a bit. The trees are all the same. Search around here and you will find some nice ones. I made some in fact. HereIn the distance, place some plant material or simply an outline of trees or a mountain then hide the edges. This will give the horizon some interest.
Hope this helps.

If you like artistic views you might try using filters in Photoshop or the GIMP. Just take the image you have above and you can see different artistic styles. You could do the same with output from a render engine like Podium that Remus recommends, or IDX Renditioner. They both work right inside SketchUp and are easy. You can use that output or even try Photoshop filters on it if you prefer non-photorealistic.
I recommend experimenting.

Thanks all and especially for the tree link Boofredlay, can always use new components. I really need to take some time and learn photoshop better. Any suggestions for a good tutorial or book. All my work is Architectural related so a series geared toward that would be best. I've downloaded Kerkythea 2008 and plan on reading up.
