Be buggered!!! I never knew it was Grant that created that type!!!!
By the way, were is Grant?
-
Nice siet alan, i might have to go new-font-hunting this afternoon
-
Andrew,
Grant had started using Modo more and more, because of the lack of organic tools and decent UV mapping in SU. I think it was the fiasco over the forum change that put the final nail in the coffin. He seems to be busy on other forums, along with some other former SU users.

Thanks for the "heads up" regarding Grant and his font, Alan...
Regarding what font I personally use... Hhhmmm... It's actually not that easy to say... It all depends on the project I work on... But I tend to have some favorites from time to time, but I change "taste" after some time and start using some new ones...
At the moment I seem to be using fonts within the Handwriting category the most, so Grants font might be the next I use for some projects...
I have far too many fonts... and got many of them at dafont.com and 1001 Free Fonts...

Just remember that he made it basically for himself. Architect has some basic fractions and punctuation, but doesn't go as far as currency symbols...certainly not Umlauts.
-
Most of our cad work uses a native DataCAD font similar to architectural lettering. For presentations, WORD documents, and the like we usually use a combination of Arial, Garamond, and Goudy Old Style.

And why did he then share it on 1001 Fonts..??

But you can add those if you have a program like FontCreator...
The below is another example of a font I use on a regular basis...
It's the Home Remedy from Dafont.com mixed with standard Garamond...

We use StylusBT here at work. It's not really a favorite of mine but since we use Microstation no one wants to mess with the architype fonts for some reason... maybe one day I'll be able to talk them into it!
-
Thanks Guys, never been one for Serif font in architectural documentation; a little over the top for me.
San Serif for me. lower case in most cases....
AvantGardBT is my favorite [at the moment].

LUNABAR -
I'm really fond of a font called "Poe Nevermore", based on the handwriting of you-know-who.
Using it on any document is sure to cause your sanity to be questioned!
-
Andrew,
Ive been using CityBlueprint for years as my main CAD font.....a hint of hand drawing but pretty readable.[PS. The fairy lights weren't my idea]
-
I use a lot of them but mostly Arial and Avantgarde.
As a freehand font this one called Inkburrow has been
one of my favourites latelly.

Thanks, Andrew... That's a very nice list... I already have a couple of them, but just downloaded the "jayneprint" and the "Lunabar" font...
(Lunabar is even complete with all signs etc...)Unfortunately I'm unable to find your personal favorite "frankthearchitect"...
I've searched the entire net in vain... -

I've searched the entire net in vain...Bob (aka Greyhead) pointed me in the right direction...
It's funny with these fonts, cause at some places you need to pay for it, while at other sites they're free...Without breaching any copyright laws or other infringement, you can get the "Frank the architect" font here...
-
no problem Frederik, glad you like them...
Nice freehand Mateo, will see if i can find it.
cheers, -
Be sure to scan free font downloads thoroughly before unzipping them...I have heard that this sort of thing is a common vector for distributing viruses.
I personally haven't found anything like that, but you always wonder if it could be that my AV program just missed something...

HELVETICA!

For the past week or so I've been playing with fonts for both computer screen and for use in my work.
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I have prefered AvantGardeBT for some time; full bodied, clear and ledgable at typical printing sizes.
Then I stumbled on Elementary SF.
I find that for use with sketchup [and mostly sketchy output] this font is a nice contrast. Rounded edges and a balanced type similar to that of a stencil [for those who can remember...] I think I have found my new type!!!
And I now use Myriad Pro family for screen type, emailing, etc....Cheers to you all!!!:D
