    Dear Ruby Community,

Many of you have noticed the forum improvements that were made recently. One of the improvements was the elimination of the Ruby Scripts Depository. Since we now use this permanent Ruby Scripts Index topic to index the scripts, a separate scripts depository is no longer necessary. The biggest improvement is that you no longer have to maintain cross-links between the two Ruby forums. There will be a single thread for the download and discussion.

All of the posts from the old Ruby Scripts Depository have been saved and moved to the Ruby Forum; although you may need to search in order to find them.

Future script postings will go in the Ruby Forum. I recommend that your downloads be attached to the first post only - please do not attach scripts in the middle of threads because it is too difficult to find them.

When starting a new topic, you may prefix the Subject with the text: [Plugin] to emphasize that it contains a download (which I recommend.)

When updating a script, edit your original post and attach the new version. Then reply to the topic to make the announcement. Please do not start a new topic for an update of an already posted script.

    Summary

Simpify - one plugin, one topic.

    • SCF-hosted scripts are indexed here.
    • Post SketchUp scripts/plugins in this forum (Ruby Forum.)
    • Prefix the Subject: with [Plugin] to emphasize a download over a discussion.
    • Script updates are made to the original post, and the topic "bumped"

The SCF Team and I hope these changes will make your experience a better one.

    Hi

Thanks, kwistenbiebel. We were hoping this would be an improvement.

One advantage of using the [Plugin] prefix for topics with downloads is that using an advanced search, all these topics can be easily found.

I am in the process of updating the older posts so they will be found by the above search.

Authors: If I missed your plugin, feel free to edit the Subject of the first post to begin with [Plugin]. This is for plugins hosted in this forum.

If you post announcement posts, maybe we could us another prefix, like [ANN] for announcement?

        Hi

good idea jim, perhaps you could auto-populate the extension list by this rule?

Actually, I was hoping to do away with the index list and replace it with a search.

            Here are a couple examples;

Plugins sorted alphabetically by Subject | Plugins sorted by most recent.

I'm afraid Randor is a commercial script, so you won't find it here. If I'm not mistaken, there are some free scripts (or one at least) that can do just about the same, if only I could remember the name.
