XP Outlook to Vista Mail

I just upgraded my desktop setup with a new Vista machine. Everything works great, except for the transfer of old mail from Outlook Express to Windows Mail.
I tend to keep quite a few old email messages as reference...these might include serial numbers of bought-online software, site logins etc.
I did the usual trick of saving the various dbx database files from Outlook, thinking that they could simply be dumped into the new mail client, like I've done before. However Windows Mail won't read them...and looking on the Net it seems like very many others were similarly surprised.

It will read the dbx files and present you with them as the original, separate emails. From there they can be exported into a folder on your Desktop and then simply drag/dropped into the appropriate folder in Windows Mail.
