the scenes of this comic strip were modeled in sketchup, rendered in kerkythea and postworked in photofiltre (texts and composition).

          Hi Koosie,

What render preset have you been using..??
The images look very CG to me and not like photo realistic renders... πŸ˜•

Also - I've noted that you render with black background... 😐
Have you tried one of the spherical Globals available at the KT site..??
I'm sure that if you use a render preset above no. 6 and also use one of the Globals your renders will look much better... πŸ˜‰

          Cheers
          Kim Frederik

            hello, kim
            what is CG?
these are not meant to be photorealistic renders - i just used kirkythea to get the image looking like i want and not as a screencapture of sketchup.
i am new to rendering and don't know much about it - just trying to learn to use the prog, which is very complicated to me - given time i will learn something more, i hope.

Hi Koosie... I really like your concept... it's ART!

As far as the renderings go, if you're happy and having fun, that's what's important! πŸ˜„

some of us get too caught up in trying to create 'photo-realistic' when all we need sometimes is some light, shadow, and reflections.

It's very cool that you had a concept and carried it out so well!

all that said... a fun trick in Kerkythea is to set the sky color to almost white, and render with preset 6 or 7, the render time will not be long at all with any of these shots, and you will like the lighting.

also, there's a render preset called 'ambient occlusion' if you want a fun quick cartoon-style render method, you may give that a shot. πŸ˜‰

thanks fletch, i will certainly try that. fact is i worked for the greater part with kt 'from the box' so to speak - many of the terms are absolutely gibberish to me πŸ˜„
recently i uploaded the newest version of kt which looked graphically great but was (to me) so confusing that i put the old version back next to this one. now i look up what i did in the old version and try to find how to manage that in the new one (this way i found my way back to make something transparent πŸ˜„ )
