Hi Craig,
Thanks for the swift reply... Much appreciated...!

From what I understand, there will be plenty of opportunity to give demos during 3D Basecamp to the community in the workshops. So, if you've got some interesting things you want to share and demo, then I'd work on it and be prepared to jump in and present.
It's really kind of you to offer this, but I'm affraid that it will be almost impossible for you to do - unless you already have good experience with Kerkythea 2008 Echo..??
(Which I - unfortunately - doubt... )I will see what I can come up with and send you a PM...

Maybe you misunderstood... What I was saying is that there will be time for people to demo whatever they'd like to other attendees. So bring a presentation and grab a spot to show off some cool Kerkythea action!

Yeah - I guess I did...

So what you're saying now is, that you'll have a seat for me at the Base Camp..??

Hi Kim, what I'm saying is there will opportunities for anyone who wants, to give demos to fellow attendees.
I've been told there are labs/workshops where you'll be able to do your own demos.
Does that make sense?

It makes sense, Craig...
I will send you a PM... -

Hi Grahams,
Here is some info about the basecamp:
http://www.google.com/events/3dbasecamp/index.htmlThanks G.
I knew about that page, I was just curious if anyone has heard any more specifics since all of the invitations had been sent out (like which building on campus to go to, if extra points will be awarded for those who show up dressed in Sketchup Generated Apparel etc.) I'm sure they will let us know, I've just read everything they have posted so many times, I'm wanting something new to perseverate on. -

"perseverate"?
I think that is one of Humpty-Dumpty's portmanteauwords, meaning to persevere, anticipate, and perspire, all at once.

Touche.
Dang Neuro-Psychologist friends and their obscure vocabularies. -
Hi Grahama, (and sorry for misspelling your name above),
What I think the "agenda" is about; Google is still expecting t6hose who will make presentations to hand them in before the BaseCamΕp. The original deadline was this week-end but then Jonathan Darmody wrote about the following one (June 1).
So when all the presentations arrive, they can prepare the program and they will upload something at the above website. That should be some one week before the BaseCamp.
So it's not only their being uninformative but also the lazy a***es of those presenting.
-
I really wanted to present some demos for what we do with SU in high school - and also, maybe do some 6 minute concept car demo's - CraigD was checking on this for me but I guess they didn't want me - maybe next year . . . (sigh) . . .

OiY!! be nice, I am presenting

I'm happy to say I'll be presenting, too. The catch is, however, that I'm a high school student.

I'm going just to irritate everyone else...a sort of resident "troll."

I think Lewis should be outfitted with a wearable computer so we all get to experience his life as a troll.
-
That's not a bad idea, in a weird sort of way.
You see, Google's business plan was inspired by this Cyberpunk novel called Snowcrash. In that near future, the CIA and the Library of Congress have merged and then held the mother of all IPOs. And their main computer interface is this virtual globe thing...
Oh, and in the novel they send out agents in what they call full "Gargoyle" wear, which probably looks a little like that...and their intelligence-gathering is re-marketed as a reality TV show...
Actually, I'll just be there with me souped-up Asus eeepc 900. That will be annoying enough.

Perhaps, but it never hurts to have a geeky laugh up your sleeve. Tip: Tom Hulce in "Amadeus".

You know, the more I look at the program, the more I think to myself:
*OK, Lewis, you know how to do all or most of these things very well already, so
A) First thing, grab your goody bag and scarf up on edibles.
B) Sneak into the Google Restricted Zone and look for cyborgs and/or The Wormhole.
C) Be back in time for the party.*

No joking, for the moment:
This message from Google ("SketchUp Basecamp 2008") just turned up in my Gmail spam box:

Hello there,
With less than two weeks until the start of Google SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2008 in Mountain View, we thought we'd provide you with some more detailed information about the event. We've:
* added to our list of Frequently Asked Questions; please check them out. * created an Event Map of places on the Google campus. * published a Detailed Event Program which provides an hour-by-hour schedule.
We hope you have a safe trip to Mountain View and look forward to meeting you,

sketchup.google.comInterestingly enough, all the links in it were dead, and there was a big red warning from Gmail (!) not to trust it.

I assume this was some odd mistake on the part of the people in Boulder and not some fiendish phishing scheme. If someone has access to that FAQ, that map, and that detailed program view, would you mind sending me the links? Thanks.
(That's assuming that it's different than what is at http://www.google.com/events/3dbasecamp )

OK, Here you go Lewis (my system didn't mark it as phishing):
- FAQ
- Event map
- Detailed Event Program
Seems to be quite dense, actually (considering that we need to squeeze some beers in between as well)
